Policeman hurt in wine bottle attack at Broadstairs Folk Festival

A policeman needed stitches in his leg after being hit with a bottle at Broadstairs Folk Festival.

The officer was among a group hit with a wine bottle at the annual event on Friday night.

Kent Police were dealing with reports of anti-social behaviour when they came under attack in Victoria Parade, Broadstairs, at about 10.30pm.

The force said a bottle was thrown from above and a shard of glass hit an officer.

A spokesman said it caused a deep cut on his calf - leaving him needing hospital treatment and stitches.

Police want to hear from a group of youngsters in the area where the bottle was thrown as they might be important witnesses.
