Jim and Danny Ward are back in charge at Ramsgate.

The Ryman League Division 1 South club announced their return on Friday - just 48 hours after deciding not to make Simon Halsey's appointment permanent.

The Wards guided rivals Whitstable Town to eighth place this season, their highest-ever since former boss Marc Seager and assistant Halsey guided them to the Kent League title in 2007.

In a statement on the Rams website the brothers said: "It was a difficult decision leaving Whitstable, as the fans and the club were great to us in what was an enjoyable season, but when Ramsgate came in for us this week, we bought into the challenge that they have set, and their ambitious plans.... we now want to start the journey to push the club onto better things."

The announcement ends speculation about their future plans, and Halsey's departure on Wednesday having overseen the club's survival last weekend, only increased the rumours.

A short statement on the Whitstable website said: "We thank them for their efforts over the past year, and are disappointed they have chosen to move."
