Police arrest man on suspicion of stealing bike and carrying bladed weapon in Angel Lane, Tonbridge

A 20-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of stealing a bike and carrying a bladed weapon.

Police were called following reports a bicycle had been stolen from outside a shop in Angel Lane, Tonbridge - shortly before 11am on Tuesday.

Officers later saw a man with a bike matching the description in Lyon’s Crescent, having reviewed CCTV footage of the area.

He was stopped and arrested on suspicion of theft of a pedal cycle.

After being searched by officers, the man, from Edenbridge, was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and shoplifting.

He was later released on bail pending further inquiries.

Meanwhile, the bike was returned to its owner later the same day.
