Suspect charged with attempted murder after man stabbed in Tonbridge

Detectives have charged a suspect with attempted murder after a man was stabbed in a town centre.

Police were called to the High Street in Tonbridge at around 10pm on Wednesday evening where a man in his 20s was being treated by paramedics.

A short while later, police arrested 18-year-old Deejay Evans - who is known to the victim - and today he was charged with attempted murder.

Evans, of New Wharf Road in Tonbridge, was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

A second suspect, a man aged 19, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has since been released without charge.

Following the incident the injured man was taken to a London hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.
