Oast Theatre in Tonbridge presents Heroes, translated by Tom Stoppard

“Heroes” - a wry comedy about three old soldiers is playing at the Oast Theatre in London Road, Tonbridge.

Henri, Philippe and Gustave live in a sanatorium, somewhere in France. Each has his weakness: Henri, as he puts it, has ‘one and a half legs’, Philippe keeps passing out due to a piece of shrapnel lodged in his brain, and Gustave is afraid to venture beyond the gates of the home.

Tom Stoppard’s translation of the original script by Gerald Sibleyras makes for a witty and entertaining production; and an unusual take on war.
