Man charged with Tonbridge burglary and car theft

A man suspected of breaking into a house before stealing the victim’s car has been charged and remanded in custody.

William Lee, of Alexandra Close, Swanley is due to appear in court tomorrow accused of burglary, aggravated vehicle taking, driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance.

At around 3.30am yesterday a woman woke to sounds of a disturbance in her home in Quarry Hill Road, Tonbridge.

The she went downstairs and discovered cash and car keys missing from a handbag.

Her vehicle, a Vauxhall Vectra, was reported to have been stolen from the driveway.

A short time later the car was identified and stopped by officers in the Mottingham area of London.

The 41 suspect has been remanded in custody to appear via virtual link, before Medway Magistrates’ Court on 12 October.

Officers are also investigating a suspicious incident at another address in Quarry Hill Road, where it is reported that during the same morning there was an attempted burglary.
