At around 5.30pm on Sunday, a Yamaha 125 motorcycle and a second motorcycle were travelling along Carpenters Lane towards Hadlow when the Yamaha bike hit a silver DAF horsebox van travelling in the opposite direction from Shipbourne.

It happened near the junction with High House Lane and the bike rider and his passenger suffered serious injuries.

Both were taken to a London hospital where the 17-year-old remains in critical condition, while the younger boy remains in a serious but stable condition.

The second motorcyclist failed to stop at the scene and the rider, an 18-year-old man, has since been arrested in connection with the incident.
