Tunbridge Wells: Crossways Community launches 50th anniversary logo competition

A local charity is asking members of the public to design a logo to celebrate its 50th anniversary next year.

Crossways Community has been providing help and support for adults aged 18-65 with acute mental health issues since September 1967.

Based in Tunbridge Wells, the group currently houses 47 residents and caters for all their needs, ranging from rehabilitative care to life skills training.

Residents of the local area are welcome to make submissions to the competition, and have free rein as to what they design.

Chris Munday, the Crossways Chief Executive, did have this advice however. “This is about designing a special anniversary logo that encapsulates Crossways Community and the work that we do. We are asking people to put their creative hats on for this.”

Crossways has helped around 400 adults in the past 50 years, many of whom have stayed for over 20 years given the long-term nature of their illness.

Residents are released from hospital into Moxham house, the group's 24/7 care home.

If they are able to become more independent, they then move to one of the group's supported accommodation hostels.

The group estimates that around half of all residents become well enough to move back out into the community and find employment.

Crossways has also been providing mental health awareness training in schools, churches, and the local community for the past nine years.

Tunbridge Wells street pastors, who work with the homeless, were also trained by the group.

It's estimated that the group has trained 200 church delegates and street pastors, and 9,000 school children during that nine-year period.

The winner will be awarded £200 worth of Amazon vouchers, with two runners up receiving £50 in Amazon vouchers each.

Those wanting to get involved can email their entries to Victoria Croton at vicky@crosswayscommunity.org.uk, or post them to Crossways Community, Moxham House, 8 Culverden Park Road, Tunbridge Wells, TN4 9QX.
