The areas will be assessed for their suitability under a process known as a strategic housing and economic land availability assessment (SHELAA).

Councillor Alan McDermott, cabinet member with responsibility for planning and transportation said: "The call for sites is an important step in the preparation of the new Local Plan that will set out the Council’s approach to development in the borough for the coming 20 years.

"The preparation of the SHELAA together with a number of other studies will form an evidence base that the Council will use to develop planning policies and approaches to deliver sustainable development."

Anyone wishing to put forward a site can find the form on the council’s website.
