Man charged after 'armed robbery' at Thomas Cook, Mount Pleasant Road, Tunbridge Wells

Detectives investigating an armed robbery in Tunbridge Wells - where staff said they were threatened by a man holding a black handgun - have charged a suspect.

Robert Darling was arrested in the Rotherhithe area of south London on Friday by officers from the Metropolitan Police.

The 30-year-old, of Strickland Street in London, was later charged with a robbery and possession of an imitation firearm, at Thomas Cook in Mount Pleasant Road on July 9.

Darling was charged with a further two robberies in the London area, as well as two counts of possession of an imitation firearm and possession of a false identity document.

He appeared at Thames Magistrates' Court yesterday and was remanded in custody to appear at Central Criminal Court on Tuesday, November 22.
