Southborough: Three men in custody after allegedly attempting to 'blow up' cash machine in Southborough

Three men have been arrested on suspicion of attempting to blow up a cash machine at Southborough post office.

The trio were arrested on the A21 near Pembury around 6.30 this morning following a sting by the Metropolitan Police Flying Squad.

A spokesman said: "They were arrested on suspicion of attempting to commit commercial burglary and attempting to cause an explosion."

"The arrests followed an attempted gas-enabled explosion at an ATM in Southborough, Kent in the early hours of Thursday, 20 April."

The three men remain in custody at a south London police station and officers are understood to remain at the scene.
