The footage, called 'Billy and Joshs adventure in Tunbridge Wells', was posted by a user called Beno - an urban explorer with an interest in lifts, abandoned buildings and forts.

He has created guides with information about lifts, adding: "Lifts are a part of the UK's heritage that is ignored and forgotten.

"People often want to preserve old buildings but not the lifts."

The post includes a disclaimer urging others not to try to copy what they see without knowing how to do it safely.

It goes on to say: "Just from watching my videos will not give you all the knowledge required to safely enter lift shafts."

A Tunbridge Wells Borough Council spokesperson said: "For obvious reasons we condemn this behaviour, the dangers are very clear."
