The new store at the Great Lodge Retail Park will house an extensive range of sofas, furniture, flooring and lighting.

The company was founded in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear in 1894, but now has stores across the UK.

However, there are only two others in Kent at present in Dartford and Broadstairs.

The new Tunbridge Wells store has created 10 jobs.

It offers 17,000 sq ft of retail space spread across two floors and opens at 10am.

After its seasonal opening it will stay open seven days a week with the standard opening hours being Monday and Thursday, 10am to 8pm; Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 10am to 7pm, Saturday 9am to 6pm; and Sunday 11am to 5pm.

Sales director Dean Weston said: “This latest store opening is an exciting move for the business and we aim to continue to grow our store portfolio.

“While we have also been investing in our digital proposition, we see the value of our bricks and mortar showrooms, offering people the chance to test out products and get a feel for a sofa before they decide to commit to a big purchase.”

Sobria Gosai will be the new store’s manager.

She said: “We’re so excited to be able to bring the quality, design and value of ScS sofas and furniture to the people of Tunbridge Wells.”

“What better way to launch a new store than to be able to offer the local community a chance to bag some serious bargains, with hundreds of lines discounted across all departments.”
