Tonbridge man charged after alleged attempted assault on police officer with spear near Upper Grosvenor Road, Tunbridge Wells

A spear was used in an alleged attempted assault on a police officer.

It happened at a property near Upper Grosvenor Road in Tunbridge Wells on Saturday, March 2.

Officers were responding to reports of a disturbance and arrived just after 4.30pm.

When they arrived, a police spokesman said a suspect lunged towards an officer with a spear.

Rowan Beversluis of Derwent Road, Tonbridge, was arrested and later charged with possession of an offensive weapon and attempting to cause grievous bodily harm.

The 33-year-old was further charged with false imprisonment, two counts of assault by beating, making threats to kill and criminal damage.

He appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday, March 4 and has since been bailed to appear before Maidstone Crown Court on April 2.
