Man crushed at Fridays' Chequer Tree Farm headquarters in Cranbrook

An egg producer is investigating after a lorry driver was crushed by a feed bin and rushed to hospital.

A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesman said a 49-year-old suffered injuries to his back and pelvis after a storage container collapsed at Chequer Tree Farm in Cranbrook.

The air ambulance and SECAmb were called to the Swattenden Lane headquarters of free-range egg giant Fridays at 1.26pm yesterday.

The patient was treated at the scene before being taken by road to Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury for further assessment.

A spokesman for Fridays said: "An incident occurred yesterday where a feed bin failed whilst being filled by a feed delivery vehicle.

"Part of the bin and some poultry feed fell to the ground. The lorry operator suffered bruising and was taken to hospital as a precaution. He is now back home recuperating and the company are investigating this unusual occurrence."
