Roy Blackman 'murder': Police release an image of William Smith

Police have released an image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the violent death of a Biddenden pensioner.

William Smith, known to have lived in Tenterden Road, Golford, near Cranbrook, is being hunted by murder detectives after 73-year-old Roy Blackman was bludgeoned to death in Heartsay Bungalow, Headcorn Road.

Officers are appealing to anyone with information about the whereabouts of the 36-year-old to come forward, using 999 or 101, but urge the public not to approach him.

It comes as the first man, a 49-year-old from Maidstone, to be arrested on suspicion of murder had his bail extended to Friday, July 8.
