Police appeal for witnesses after man dies in crash in Rolvenden

A man has died and five people have been left injured after a crash in Rolvenden.

The incident happened on the A28 Hastings Road near Wassall Lane at about 5.25pm yesterday.

A 37-year-old man from Swanscombe died when the green Ford Fiesta he was driving collided with a black Ford Focus.

The road was closed for several hours to allow crash investigators to scour the scene.

It reopened just after 10pm.

The victim's identity has not yet been released.

An ambulance service spokesman described the five injured people as "walking wounded".

At least one was taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford for further treatment.
