Paddock Wood high street welcomes new family-friendly coffee shop Babyccino on Commercial Road

The owners of a new family-friendly coffee shop on the high street say they hope to create a “real buzz” in the community.

Husband and wife team, Ruh Alam, 32 and Georgia Alam, 28, have now opened the coffee shop called Babyccino in Paddock Wood.

The family, from Loose, said the shop will be a “place for parents to meet – that isn’t soft play!”

The venue - named after a hot frothy milk drink for children - will offer sweet and savoury parathas, milk cake, avocado on toast and chai lattes.

Georgia, who is a keen coffee shop visitor, said: “Our menu will be everything you expect from a coffee shop and more. With an Asian fusion sprinkled throughout our menu, to stay true to the roots of how our hospitality journey began.”

“The drive behind this is having that luxury coffee experience that you find in London, but with the convenience of being local, something that is missing in the area,” she added.

While the pair hope Babyccino becomes a “bougie breakfast location” they have made sure to offer the classic latte, cappuccino and espresso.

The couple, who recently welcomed their first baby, are not strangers to the hospitality industry.

Ruh, originally from West Malling, has worked in hospitality for his whole career and is the owner of Marden Tandoori and Zav Motors.

Talking of plans for the future they said: “We really hope for the coffee shop to be a success, with a goal to grow in years to come.

“We're hoping that we become part of the hustle and bustle of the high street, creating a real buzz in the community.”

But the couple confirmed the journey to opening hasn’t been easy.

Their son arrived during a full re-fit which had an impact on some deadlines.

Mr and Mrs Alam, having enjoyed the “baby bubble” are looking forward to sharing their vision and concept with the community.

“We hope to be a hot spot location for the whole community,” they added.

The shop will host parents and carer mornings in the week as well as offering private hire on Sundays for parties and events.

Babyccino opened in Commercial Road last month following a ribbon cutting ceremony on January 26.

The shop will be open Monday-Friday from 7.30am – 4.30pm, Saturdays from 9am-5pm and Sundays 9am- 4.30pm.

The pair said: “We look forward to being part of the community, throughout the fit-out journey what has been the most amazing part is the support from the neighbours and community.

“We’ve had so many enquiries and we’re just now so excited to meet all these people and welcome them through the doors.”
