Discover the creativity that’s hidden within Folkestone’s Creative Quarter at the three-day Open Quarter event this weekend.

The celebration of its community of artists, makers, creative businesses, shops, cafes, bars and restaurants aims to showcase the wealth of talent that gives the urban village its vibrant and unique atmosphere.

Running from today until Sunday, June 18, more than 70 shops and studios will be involved with specially curated performances and events.

The weekend launches at Quarterhouse with Connecting Creatives, a quick-fire presentation evening featuring some of Folkestone’s fast-rising creative businesses, with speakers including artists, digital media gurus, fashion designers, curators and charities.

On Saturday and Sunday, the quarter throws open its doors to the public with workshops, exhibitions, open houses and events.

Visitors can browse displays and exhibitions and the eclectic and artistic stores from jewellers, tailors, sculptors and painters to web designers, performers and architects, nestling in Tontine Street and the Old High Street.

Organisers want visitors to explore and create and there will be a range of free workshops for all ages.

Join Kid Carpet for his Super Mega Rockin’ Rock show on Sunday at 11am, for ages three and above to explore their first gig, and afterwards head over to Payers Park for Folkestone’s third Big Lunch at 12.30pm. The lunch is free – just bring along a dish to share with your neighbours, and then sit back and enjoy live music from Mariachi Tequila.
