Folkestone annual sandcastle competition 2016 at Sunny Sands

Each summer hundreds descend on Folkestone for the annual sandcastle competition, armed only with a bucket, spade and plenty of imagination.

From turtles to mermaids, cars to sea creatures, folk of all ages come up with some stunning creations using just one ingredient – sand.

Whether you’re an amateur or professional, a first timer or a veteran, you can go along to compete.

The annual contest is part of the Folkestone Festival and will raise funds for the Church Street Project in Shepway.
