The Heritage Transport Show 2016 at the Kent Showground, Detling, near Maidstone

All aboard for a bus and vintage transport enthusiast’s dream.

The Heritage Transport Show, now in its seventh year, will pull in to the Kent Showground at Detling this weekend with some 500 vehicles on display.

With more vehicles than ever before, visitors will be able to see everything from buses to tractors and cars to motorcycles.

The Maidstone Exhibition Hall will host the majority of the vintage and classic cars and motorcycles and there will be a live steam model railway.

The Veteran Cycle Club will be riding in again on vintage bicycles and the bus festival is expected to bring in around 100 buses and coaches. You’ll be able to climb aboard many of them for free as they ride around the site every five minutes.

There will also be guest speakers and two restoration project will be unveiled by South East Coachworks at 10.45am, plus Kent Kit Car Club will be bringing some award-winning and historical examples with them.

A farmers’ market organised by Tonbridge and Aylesford markets will be selling chutneys and jams, sausage rolls and pasties and there will be a vintage tea shop in the Astor Pavilion.

Organised by the Kent County Agricultural Society, it is also run in partnership with the South East Bus Festival. Trevor Manuel from the society said: “The showground will be full of some of the finest examples of classic and vintage vehicles in the country and we are expecting large numbers of visitors.”

The Heritage Transport Show will be at the Kent Showground in Detling, near Maidstone, on Saturday, April 2 between 10am and 4pm. Tickets are £7 in advance, under 14s free and £10 on the gate with parking.
