The new outdoor rink is laid out so skaters can twirl around a giant Christmas tree. Grab a hot drink and festive refreshment for the full effect. The rink outside the Village is open until Monday, January 2 and there will be special events and lessons for beginners. Entry is from £9 for children, £11 for adults and 13 to 16-year-olds from £10. JOIN THE CELEBRATION

Ice skating, live music and winter warming food will combine to get you in festive mood in Tunbridge Wells.

A WILD GLIDE

Take a skate on the wild side this winter with the first open air ice rink to come to Port Lympne Reserve, near Hythe.

Open until Monday, January 9, skating sessions last 45 minutes.

Managing director Bob O’Connor said: “Open air skating will be a lot of fun and offers our visitors something a little different. Skaters can show off their skills to festive music and warm up with tasty treats available in the Pinewood cafe.”

Skating before 2.30pm is included in the entry cost, with skate hire at £3. After last entry at 2.30pm, sessions are £8 and entry to the reserve is not included. The rink will open between 11am and 7.15pm, but not on Christmas Day.

WHITE CHRISTMAS

An ice rink will the central attraction in the Port of Dover’s first major Christmas event at its cruise terminal.

The rink, which will run until Monday, January 2, apart from Christmas Day and Boxing Day, will open between 4pm and 8pm on Mondays to Thursdays, 4pm to 9pm on Fridays and 10am to 9pm at weekends.

A Christmas Market will be open every day from Monday, December 19 through to Christmas Eve. The White Cliffs Christmas event all happens at Cruise Terminal 1 at former Dover Marine Station at Dover Western Docks. There is also a shuttle bus service from Market Square and Dover Priory Station at £3 return.

GET IN THE SPIRIT

An ice skating rink is part of the new Spirit of Christmas event at Quex Park in Thanet this winter.
