Iron Maiden founder Steve Harris brings his band British Lion to Folkestone Quarterhouse

Steve Harris, bassist and founder of Iron Maiden, is heading out on the road with his band, British Lion - and will play the only UK date in Kent.

The band play their only UK date of 27 in a European tour at Folkestone Quarterhouse on Friday, December 2.

After founding Iron Maiden in the mid 70s - which have sold more than 90m albums worldwide, played more than 2,000 live performances across 63 countries and released 16 studio albums, he released British Lion in 2012, which he had put together in his Maiden downtime.

It was his first ever side project to Iron Maiden.

He said: "It’s taken a very long time for this to come together. A number of years ago vocalist Richard Taylor and guitarist Grahame Leslie sent me a tape. I was just impressed and decided to help them a bit and it went from there. I thought the songs were so strong it’d be a crime if it they didn’t see the light of day. It’s very different but there are some Maiden elements in there. Not that I’ve ever worried too much about what people think!”

He added of the tour: "This club tour will be our most extensive European one yet.

"We’ve got a really strong show lined up including plenty of songs not on the British Lion album. The whole band is really excited and can’t wait to get out on the road again. We’ll be looking to record some more shows on this tour to add to the recordings we already have for an upcoming live album."
