Labradors know it. You know it too – that feeling when you can’t stop eating because everything just tastes so good.

A new festival launching in Maidstone this weekend is named after the Georgian phrase for doing exactly that.

Shemomedjamo – or if it’s easier to pronounce, the Maidstone Multicultural Food Festival – is a chance to dine around the world and celebrate multicultural cohesion in Maidstone and across Kent.

The free event in Mote Park, from Friday, September 1 to Sunday, September 3, will feature world music, dance, art and crafts and a melting pot of cultures.

The programme includes New Orleans jazz, Punjabi bhangra, Mexican mariachi and reggae on the Sunday.

Artists performing include The Burning Hell, the alter-ego of Canadian songwriter Mathias Kom, TootArd (Arabic for Strawberries), a mountain rock reggae band, Jamie Rodigan and some eclectic DJ sets.

The festival runs from noon to 8pm on the Friday, 10am to 8pm on the Saturday and 10am to 6pm on the Sunday.
