Margate's Winter Gardens

Editors are back on the road for the first time in four years, with a new line-up and a new album.

And frontman Tom Smith and the new-look band chose the Winter Gardens, Margate as the first venue for the tour.

Their fourth album is titled The Weight Of Your Love, and has been much-anticipated by fans, as their last release was back in 2009.

And it seemed to be a hit with fans in Margate, as the band opened their set with the track Sugar from the new album, to huge cheers and applause from the crowd.

I last saw the band when they played Radio 1’s Big Weekend at Maidstone in 2008, and was impressed not only by their musical talents but their great interaction with the audience.

And Editors didn't disappoint in the more intimate setting of the Winter Gardens, building a great rapport with the crowd.

While I really enjoyed the songs from the new album, particularly A Ton of Love, I was also pleased to hear a few classics, such as Smokers Outside The Hospital Doors and All The Sparks.

And the rest of the audience felt the same, judging by the volume and passion with which everyone sang along with the choruses.

The enthusiasm was also shared by the band, particularly lead vocalist Tom, who gave a very energetic performance, full of passion.

All in all, it was a great performance from the new line-up, and hopefully heralds the start of even greater things in the new era of Editors.
