Tonbridge: The Gatehouse launches new light Prosecco with just 65 calories per 100ml

All ladies that lunch want to top it off with a glass of Prosecco. But there’s a very special version on the menu at one Tonbridge pub – light Prosecco at just 65 calories per 100ml.

The Gatehouse in Tonbridge, which was refurbished in November, has exclusively launched Gancis Leggero.

It’s as close as it gets to “clean” drinking with 75% less sugar than its regular variant, yet crafted from Glera grapes using a 122-year-old method still used today in both the asti and prosecco regions.

The result is a light and fruity sparkling wine packed with pear and apple flavours with an ABV of 11.5%. The average bottle of champagne typically contains between 12 and 32g of sugar per litre and Prosecco between 12 and 15g per litre, while the Gancia Leggero prosecco has just 6g of sugar per litre.

Manager Simone Bettin said: “We’re tapping into growing consumer trends. Low calorie and low sugar are right up there so this lighter prosecco really is every girl’s dream come true!”

There are rustic pizzas baked on stone Sicilian-style available on 2-4-1 Pizza Thursdays.

If tapas is your thing, bring a taste of the Mediterranean into your life with antipasti, chorizo cider and honey and mini pittas and feta or keep it British with beef and horseradish or chicken wings, or gourmet burgers such as a barbecue chipotle quinoa and smoked cheddar burger, and a Moroccan-inspired lamb burger.

The pub specialises in craft beer and spirits, including pure Crystal Head vodka, the Monkey 47 gin and the Hudson Baby Bourbon.

The Gatehouse in Tonbridge High Street, which was formerly the Slug and Lettuce, is part of the Stonegate Pub Company.
