War and Peace Revival returns to Folkestone Racecourse, Westenhanger

Tickets are on sale to one of Kent’s most popular events.

Visitors to the site of the former Folkestone Racecourse will be transported back in time as the War and Peace Revival makes its return.

The five-day military event is the UK’s largest vintage and military festival and this year’s throwback to Wartime Britain will be a special anniversary.

2015 marks the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World War and the 75th anniversary of the Dunkirk evacuations and the Battle of Britain.

Visitors can expect to see action-packed battle re-enactments, living history displays, arena events and vintage fashion items which will be on show as the festival returns to its new home for the fourth year.

A number of legendary vehicles will be on show, as War and Peace began as a collection of 100 vehicles at the Kent & East Sussex Railway in Tenterden in 1982.

More than 100,000 people are expected to visit the five-day festival at the Westenhanger site, with the event proving to be as popular as ever since its move from the Hop Farm, Paddock Wood, back in 2012.

Running from Wednesday, July 22 until Sunday, July 26 Folkestone will play host to a large number of military and civilian vehicles, as they gather at the Racecourse – the vehicles include tanks, artillery, armoured and amphibious vehicles, classic cars, Jeeps, bicycles and motorbikes, commercial vehicles and more.

The site becomes packed full of wartime memorabilia, whilst bringing education and entertainment together in this historic corner of the country – as the racecourse was used as a base for the Royal Air Force.

The Ware and Peace Revivial will take place from Wednesday, July 22 until Sunday, July 26 at the Folkestone Racecourse, Westenhanger, Hythe, CT21 4HX.

Tickets start at £17.55 for adults and are priced at £15.75 for a child – there are a variety of options and family deals on offer.

You can save up to 10% on the gate price with an Early Bird ticket, available online.
