Paris attacks spark cancellation of Ypres school trip for Community College Whitstable

A school trip to Belgium planned for today has been cancelled in the wake of the Paris attacks.

The Community College Whitstable took the decision to call off the visit to Ypres after a number of parents pulled their children off the trip.

It follows advice from Kent education chiefs yesterday for school's to postpone or re-schedule trips to France following the terrorist attacks last Friday.

The school said in an email to parents: "Following the recent events in France it is with regret that we are writing to inform you of our decision to cancel the trip to Ypres, Belgium, which was due to take place on Friday, November 20, 2015.

"We have received several requests from parents asking for their child to be withdrawn and as a result, we felt that it would be appropriate to postpone the trip in the hope that we will be able to reschedule it later in the year."

All parents will be refunded the cost of the trip.
