Whitstable sunset shown in time lapse video over The Street

An eye-catching time lapse video of a glorious sunset over Whitstable beach has been realised online.

University graduate Thomas Surridge, from Faversham, shot the footage last week which shows night falling over The Street below Tankerton Slopes.

Mr Surridge, 21, took 1,600 photos with a Canon DSLR camera before editing the shots down to just 25 seconds of video.

Mr Surridge, who has just completed a degree in bio-engineering at University of Sheffield, shot the footage on Wednesday, July 1.

He said: "It's a really nice way to show a beautiful scene.

"It's nice to be able to see so many things that change in the scene.

"You can see the lengths of The Street reduce down to nothing in an interesting, creative way."

The Street is a shingle strip and is only exposed at low tide. Mr Surridge shot the footage over a 45-minute period.

He added: "I set it until infinity to take as many photos as I like and sat there until I was bored with it and until the sun went down.

"It took 1,600 individual photos which I put all together and sped up time so I made it 25 seconds and everything whizzed past.

"You see so much detail in the sky and the clouds were fantastic that night.

"It shows off Whitstable really nicely."
