Two teenagers who were arrested in Ashford have been charged with attempted murder after a cyclist was stabbed and shot while riding his bike.

Police were called to Whalebone Lane South in Dagenham just before 5.30pm on May 2 following reports that a man had been stabbed.

Shortly after, a second call was received from a member of the public reporting gunshots heard in the area.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found a 19-year-old man, with what appeared to be stab injuries.

He was taken to hospital where it was confirmed that he had been stabbed and also shot.

He remains in hospital in a critical condition and next of kin have been informed.

On Friday, May 10, detectives investigating the incident arrested two 17-year-olds in Ashford on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

They were taken to a police station in London for questioning and later charged with both offences.

The pair were remanded in custody to appear in court today.

Five men and a woman, aged between 18 and 25 years old, had previously been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. They have since been bailed pending further inquiries.
