A road in Dartford was closed in the early hours of this morning following a collision between two cars.

The A226 was cordoned off in both directions at East Hill due to the police incident, from Darenth Road to the A296, Park Road.

Police later revealed a 20-year-old woman, who was a passenger in one of the vehicles, had sadly died.

An appeal for information has been issued.

At the time, Transport for London issued alerts about its Route 492 service, which was missing stops between The Brent and Overy Street, eastbound, and Market Street, westbound.

It said Routes 96 and 428 were not on a diversion but may be subject to delay.

The road fully reopened this morning.
