Two arrests after police chase suspected drink driver through Dartford town centre and Greenhithe

A suspected drink driver and a passenger have been arrested after a police chase through Dartford town centre.

Officers were called to Spital Street at 1am following reports a male motorist was driving a vehicle without permission while under the influence of alcohol.

A search was carried out and the vehicle was seen in Home Gardens 20 minutes later.

It is reported to have failed to stop when requested and a pursuit was authorised.

By 1.30am, the car had been stopped in Sanderling Way and a 23-year-old man from Greenhithe was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and aggravated vehicle taking.

A 33-year-old woman from Welling was also arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking.

Both were taken into custody.

The arrested man was later released, pending further inquiries, and the arrested woman was released without charge.
