There will be four days of free parking during the Christmas holiday period.

There are no charges at Dover District Council-owned car parks on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

Cllr Nigel Collor, cabinet member for transport, licensing and community, said: “The year 2020 has been tough for everyone and we hope this small gesture will help people to plan ahead for a Covid-safe Christmas.”

NHS and key workers can continue to park for free while on duty or carrying out visits in the community.

This concession is in line with directions from the British Parking Association.

It applies until April 6 next year or until the government issues further guidance.

All other parking restrictions, including on-street parking and single/double yellow line restrictions continue.
