The closures were initially due to take place over 12 week nights finishing on October 22 but Kent County Council (KCC) says it will now finish on October 24.

Lengthy diversions via the M20 will be introduced.

Traffic heading for Tonbridge and Allington will be diverted along the A229 Fairmeadow and onto the Londonbound M20 leaving at Junction 5.

Those heading towards Maidstone will be sent to the Coastbound M20 coming off at Junction 6 for Aylesford.

KCC says access to and from Barker Road will be 'severely restricted' while the 'essential' works are ongoing and is urging anyone to avoid unnecessary journeys.

Late night resurfacing works to the Lower Boxley Road roundabout have sparked noise complaints from residents.
