Man hit by Southeastern train between Paddock Wood and Ashford international taken to hospital

A man is fighting for his life in hospital after being hit by a train.

At 6.37pm yesterday Southeastern cut power to tracks between Paddock Wood and Ashford International to allow emergency services to respond to the incident which was believed to be near Headcorn station.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were pictured at the scene.

A British Transport Police said this morning: "Officers were called to reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended and a man was taken to hospital. His injuries are currently believed to be life-threatening.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious."

All lines between the two stations were blocked with services either being diverted through Maidstone East or replaced with a bus service.

Southeastern has been contacted for information about how services were affected.
