A road has been closed after a large sinkhole opened up near a school.

The hole, in Hildenborough Crescent, Allington, started at about 8ft by 4ft and up to 3ft deep but has started to get bigger.

It is near the entrance to Allington Primary School.

It was initially spotted by a resident on Thursday morning.

On Friday, South East Water closed the road to carry out repairs and it is expected to reopen at the end of the week.

Back in September 2018, another hole opened in nearby Allington Way and stopped a business owner from using her driveway.

Just under three miles away, in Barming, the A26 Tonbridge Road was closed after a large sinkhole appeared in October last year.

At the time, it was measured at about 16ft by 20ft across and according to one witness was "very deep".
