MenKind replaces Clarks in Hempstead Valley shopping centre, Gillingham

A gadget store has replaced a former Clarks shoe shop in a shopping centre.

Medway welcomed its first MenKind store today at Hempstead Valley in Gillingham.

The gift and gadget retailer describes itself as "all about fun, geeking out, embracing your inner child, and being weirder than broccoli-flavoured ice cream."

It sells a number of licensed products, as well as food, drink, tech and personalised items.

Other MenKind stores in Kent include Bluewater, Canterbury, Maidstone, and Tunbridge Wells.

The Clarks store shut at the end of October.

The struggling footwear chain announced the closure just a fortnight beforehand with a sign on the door, but no further explanation for the decision.

Remaining branches include Chatham, Maidstone, Gravesend and Bluewater.
