Traffic delayed on M2 between Sittingbourne and Faversham after crash involving multiple vehicles

A crash involving multiple vehicles caused long delays for drivers on the M2.

The accident happened on the coast-bound carriageway between Junction 5 for Sittingbourne, Sheppey and Maidstone and Junction 6 for Faversham.

One lane was blocked due to the accident and queues built up back towards Junction 4 for Gillingham.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police attended the coast-bound M2 between Junctions 5 and 6 following a report of a multiple-vehicle collision.

"Officers were called to the scene at 10.43am on Saturday, July 11. A woman reported injuries and was going to hospital as a precaution."

The vehicles were cleared from the motorway by around 11.50am but delays remained for about another hour.
