Suspected lorry thieves who decamped in a hurry after reportedly failing to stop for police left behind valuable items and a warm kebab.

The Metropolitan Police requested the suspicious HGV spotted at the Dartford Crossing pull over on the M25.

The vehicle reportedly failed to stop for officers before the suspects got out and fled.

Checks were then carried out and uncovered the lorry had been stolen one month ago.

But inside the vehicle police say they made a series of other interesting discoveries including some "valuable items" and a warm kebab that had been left.

The force said they are working with Kent Police and enquiries are ongoing.
