Tailbacks clear after crash causes closures on the A2 before Cobham

All lanes have now reopened after a crash involving four vans and two cars on the A2 London-bound just before the Cobham and Shorne turn-off.

Traffic has eased on all the approach roads to the A2 following the accident just before the start of the rush hour.

Tailbacks were earlier affecting the M2 back to J2 for Strood and Rochester and the A228 back into Strood.

Cars were nose to tail for several miles, with one person forced to get off a bus and walk to work nearby due to the extremely slow traffic.

One driver said it took her one hour 40 minutes to get to Strood from Maidstone.

All lanes are now open, after all traffic was held back for about 30 minutes just before 7.20am to clear the crash.
