Woman, 32, from Chatham killed near Boxley tunnel by Eurostar running between Ashford and Ebbsfleet International stations

A woman who was hit and killed by a Eurostar train at Boxley yesterday was 32 and from Chatham, police have revealed.

Police and ambulance crews were called at 9.30am to reports a person had been struck on the line between Ashford and Ebbsfleet.

British Transport Police today confirmed the death is being treated as non-suspicious.

She said: “We were called to the line near Boxley tunnel in Maidstone, Kent on Monday, 1 June, to a report of a person hit by a train.

“Officers from BTP and Kent Police attended the incident, which was reported to BTP at 9.32am and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.

“Medics from South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended and a woman, believed to be 32 and from Chatham was pronounced dead at the scene.

“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Services were delayed by the incident until 2pm with a replacement bus service put in place.
