Met Office issues yellow warning for rain across Kent

An 11-hour weather warning has been put in place as heavy rain is expected to hit Kent this evening.

The Met Office has issued the yellow alert for the whole of the county from 4pm until 3am tomorrow morning.

It predicts disruption to buses and trains, and flooding on roads making journey times longer.

Some interruption to power supplies is expected and there is a small chance some homes could become flooded.

As well as covering Kent, the warning extends across to Portsmouth, London and Norwich.

KentOnline reported yesterday how a father-of-two was thrilled to take “magnificent” photos and a time-lapse video of the Northern Lights off the county's coast.

Chris Cork from Maidstone captured the footage at Reculver Beach in Herne Bay as colourful glows illuminated over the water.
