Bus crash in Bell Road, Park Wood, Maidstone sees person taken to hospital as police appeal for witnesses

A police investigation is under way after a person was taken to hospital following a crash involving a bus.

Bell Road in Maidstone was partially cordoned off shortly before 6pm yesterday (Wednesday) following a collision between the single decker and a car.

The accident happened at the junction between Brishing Lane and Francis Lane and involved Arriva’s number 82 service, which runs between the Royal Star Arcade and Park Wood Parade.

The bus was left with damage to the front and police, paramedics and fire crews were sent.

Speaking online, one person said: "Big crash [in] Bell Road near Francis Lane.

"Glass everywhere, hectic round there - hope everyone is okay".

Paramedics said a person had been taken to Maidstone Hospital.

Meanwhile, police say an investigation is under way.

A spokeswoman said: "Officers attended alongside South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) and Kent Fire and Rescue Service.

"The car left prior to officers’ arrival and inquiries are underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident."

Anyone with information, including private residential CCTV and dashcam footage, is being urged to contact 01622 604100, quoting reference 10-1064.

It has not been confirmed whether the injured person was the driver of the bus or a passenger but Arriva has been contacted for more information.

The road cleared shortly before 8pm.
