Maidstone shop assistant threatened by man with knife

A suspected armed robber has been charged after a Maidstone shop was targeted.

A man was reported to have entered a shop in Lower Stone Street at around 10.20pm yesterday (Wednesday) while holding a knife.

It is alleged he stole a quantity of cash from the till and a bottle of whisky, then threatened a shop assistant before leaving the premises.

Following inquiries, police arrested 31-year-old Patrick Dilley, of Lower Stone Street. He has since been charged with robbery and possessing a bladed article. He was also charged with another count of robbery at the same shop a month earlier on October 19.

Dilley was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates' Court on Friday, November 20.
