Man injured in knife attack in Shepway, Maidstone

A man has been treated for knife wounds after an attack at a block of flats.

The victim was treated by medics on the scene on the Shepway estate in Maidstone for cuts before being taken to hospital.

The incident happened at around 4.40pm in Westmorland Green but the area remained cordoned off with officers on the scene into the evening.

A police helicopter circled overhead.

A 21-year-old man from Maidstone was arrested on suspicion of assault and was taken into custody.

It is understood the victim and suspect were known to each other.

Officers seized a knife outside the address.

Investigators are appealing for witnesses to the incident, or anybody with information, to call Kent Police on call 01622 604100, quoting crime reference 46/52889/21.
