Final FA Cup tickets for Maidstone United v Coventry available at The Gallagher Stadium on Sunday

Supporters who missed out on getting tickets for a once-in-a-lifetime match despite queuing for hours have been given a final opportunity to watch their side play.

Thousands of Maidstone United fans turned up at The Gallagher Stadium last week in the hope of getting a ticket to watch Stones' upcoming FA Cup fifth-round game at Coventry City.

The National League South side is travelling to the West Midlands on Monday (February 26) having knocked out fellow Championship outfit Ipswich Town last time out.

Eager fans desperate to watch George Elokobi's team in action spent last Friday queuing from as early as sunrise in a bid to get their hands on a prized ticket.

However, they sold out shortly before 1.30pm.

Yet those who missed out have been given a final reprieve in a bid to watch the game live.

This evening United released a statement announcing more tickets were up for grabs.

It read: "Following some returns, we have approximately 75 tickets available for Monday’s match.

"These will go on sale in the club shop between 11am and midday tomorrow (Sunday), on a first-come-first-served basis."

The club has been allocated 4,800 tickets behind the goal in the South Stand of the Coventry Building Society Arena – just over 300 more than they received for their fourth-round victory at Ipswich.

Season ticket holders had been able to buy tickets since last Wednesday (February 14).

Speaking previously, former Wolves defender Elokobi, who has been in his role just over a year at Maidstone, described the impact the win against Ipswich had had on the community.

He said: “It’s brought our community closer together and everyone wants to be a part of the game against Coventry.”

One fan who waited managed to get a front-of-queue spot last week was 52-year-old, Paul Clephane.

The Underwood Close resident waited just over five hours to secure his ticket to the game.

Mr Clephane said: “It makes you proud to think that people who are a lot lower down the leagues can do some good, show themselves up,” and added, “I can’t wait for them to win!”
