Maidstone United to start work on new stand next month after planning permission granted

Maidstone United have been given planning permission for their new stand at the Gallagher Stadium.

Work on the 1,768-capacity north terrace will begin in November and is due to be completed by the end of March.

Costing between £600,000 and £750,000, the stand will increase overall capacity to 4,200.

Stones chief executive Bill Williams said: “This is fantastic news for the club.

“The quality of the application prepared by project manager Steve Harrison has enabled Maidstone Borough Council to determine it in good time and we thank the members and officers for that.

“We’ve now got a busy month ahead to make sure everything is in place for the contractor to come in and start work in November.

“These are exciting times for the club and we’re about to see another significant change to a venue that wasn’t even here five years ago. It just shows where we’ve come in such a short space of time.”

Supporters are attempting to raise £50,000 towards the cost via the Stand up for the Stones campaign, with the current total at £21,000.

Donations can be made by calling the club office on 01622 753817 during office hours or through the Maidstone United website.
