Three more people have been arrested in connection with the Sheerness murder.

Luke Marchington died in hospital - 10 days after being found unconscious near the clock tower.

Detectives believe the 24-year-old was involved in a fight which began in the Tudor Inn pub before spilling out into the High Street.

A further confrontation occurred shortly afterwards and Mr Marchington was found early on June 12 and taken to Medway Maritime Hospital.

He was later taken to King's College Hospital in London where he died on Wednesday, June 22.

Since then officers have arrested six people on suspicion of murder.

Following warrants at two addresses in Sheerness on Saturday, June 25 police arrested a 21-year-old woman, a 23-year-old man and a 22-year-old man, who was later released without charge.

Three more arrests were made on Tuesday, when a 20-year-old man, a 21-year-old man and a 24-year-old man were brought into Sittingbourne Police Station for questioning.

All five have been bailed pending further enquiries until August 11.

DCI Mick Atkinson, of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, said: "We are particularly appealing for those who attended the Tudor Inn public house on Saturday, June 11 from 7pm until the pub closed, to come forward so we can eliminate them from our enquiries.

"Additionally, anyone who witnessed fighting around the clock tower may have information which could prove vital to our enquiries and I would urge them to contact us."

Officers will be carrying out house-to-house enquiries and a leaflet drop in the Sheerness area.
