Second home proposed by East Cliff Developments to replace public conveniences in Tonbridge

A former public convenience seems to have become a desirable place to live.

Just two months after gaining permission to convert the public toilets on the corner of Shipbourne Road and The Ridgeway, in Tonbridge, into a two-bedroom bungalow, the same developer has come back with a second application to build another single-storey detached home nextdoor on the same plot.

East Cliff Development gained permission for the first home only on February 14.

Now, flushed with success, the company wants to add another, very similar in style and volume, alongside the first.

Both homes will be built narrow and long, in order to fit onto the plot which runs alongside the road.

Work has not begun yet on the first.

Details of both plans can be seen on the Tonbridge and Malling council website.

Application numbers 22/02789 and 23/00695 refer.
