Child dodges car on pavement in Yalding

A mother has issued a concerned plea to motorists after her daughter was faced with a car driving along the pavement as she made her way to school.

Ten-year-old Patsy Blackman was walking along Benover Road in Yalding on her way to Yalding Primary School when the car drove up on the pavement in an attempt to get around the congestion of traffic waiting to cross Yalding Bridge. The car was followed through by a van.

Patsy's mum Jenny Reynolds, said: "My daughter sensibly climbed onto the steps of one of the houses to get out of the way, but she shouldn't have to do that.

"Motorists should ask themselves: Is their journey worth the life of a child? Everyone needs to just take more care and put safety first."

Mrs Reynolds has now issued Patsy with a high visibility vest to make her more more obvious to motorists and has reported the incident to police.
